Hitmen Win Regular Season Finale in a Shootout

Calgary, AB - Jakob Stukel scored the lone goal of the shootout, while Nik Amundrud stopped all three shooters, as the Calgary Hitmen wrapped up the 2015/16 Western Hockey League regular season with a 6-5 win over the Kootenay ICE on Sunday afternoon at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Five different Hitmen netted goals through 60 minutes including Stukel, who finished the season with a team-leading 36 markers. Travis Sanheim, Keegan Kanzig, Carsen Twarynski and Tyler Mrkonjic had the other goals, helping Calgary build period leads of 2-1 and 5-2.

The ICE, who scored three unanswered third period goals, forced overtime when Shane Allan squared the game with 4:30 remaining in regulation. Zak Zborosky and Matt Alfaro both had a pair of goals for Kootenay who was outshot 40-23.

Calgary wraps up the regular season with a record of 42-26-2-2 to finish third in the Central Division.

The Hitmen will open the 2016 Western Hockey League Playoffs on the road, with Games 1 and 2 beginning Friday, March 25 at Red Deer.

The best-of-seven first-round series then shifts to Calgary for Game 3 on Sunday, March 27 at the Scotiabank Saddledome and Game 4 on Friday, April 1 at the Stampede Corral.

Tickets for Game 3, to be played at the 'Dome are on sale now while Tickets for Game 4 and Game 6, if necessary, to be held at the Stampede Corral, will go on sale to the general public Tuesday, March 22 at 10:00 a.m.

All first-round playoff tickets for Hitmen home games at both the Scotiabank Saddledome and Stampede Corral ware available through Ticketmaster and the 'Dome box office. Single game playoff tickets can also be ordered online at Ticketmaster.ca or by phone at 1-855-985-5000.
