
Hitmen Win First Pre-Season Game vs Red Deer

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen kicked off pre-season at Seven Chiefs Sportsplex on Tsuut'ina Nation Friday night when they welcomed the Red Deer Rebels. Calgary came out with 6-3 win over the visitors.
Red Deer opened up the scoring with one from Hunter Mayo but was answered later in first with a power play goal from Riley Fiddler-Schultz. Carson Wetsch followed up with one at the end of the period to make it 2-1.
Anton Yatsyshin and Fiddler-Schultz both notched goals to give Calgary a three goal lead. Jhett Larson cut the lead in half for Red Deer to finish out the period 4-2. Kaland Lind put Red Deer within one in the third but Calgary responded with two from Tomis Marinkovic and David Adaszynski.
Riley Fiddler-Schultz notched three points (2g, 1a) while Carter Yakemchuk had four assists. Starting goaltender Alex Garrett made 31 saves in tonight's match. Shots finished 44 - 35 for Calgary.
Calgary now heads to Red Deer to finish up the home-and-home pre-season set with the Rebels tomorrow. Calgary hits home ice again next Saturday, September 17 at Deerfoot Sportsplex on Siksika Nation to finish the pre-season vs. the Edmonton Oil Kings. Game time is 7:00 p.m. MT.
