Cranbrook, BC - The Calgary Hitmen extended their winning streak to four games with a 2-1 victory over the Kootenay Ice Friday night at Western Financial Place in Cranbrook.

After a scoreless first period, Loch Morrison and Jordy Stallard scored in the middle frame to give Calgary a 2-0 lead.

Tim Bozon drew the Ice to within a goal with just over five minutes remaining in the third period, scoring on a 5-on-3 powerplay but Kootenay was unable to find the tying goal.

Brendan Burke was terrific in the Hitmen net making 29 saves in a first star performance while Wyatt Hoflin had 29 stops for the Ice.

The win keeps Calgary a single point ahead of the Medicine Hat Tigers in the race for the WHL's Central Division pennant. Both teams have just one game remaining on the season with the Hitmen to play their regular season finale on Sunday (March 22) at 2:00 p.m.

Prior to the contest, the Hitmen will hold their first-ever on-ice team awards ceremony where hardware including Player of the Year, Top Defenceman and Booster Club Fan Favourite will be handed out. It's all part of Fan Appreciation Day and the Distress Centre Awareness game in support of ConnecTeen, presented by EllisDon and Pattison. Following Sunday's game, all fans in attendance are invited to join the Hitmen players and coaching staff for a reception in the Chrysler Club where the team awards will be on display. Admission to the reception, offered on a first-come, first-served basis, is complimentary with a game ticket.

Calgary has already secured home ice advantage in the opening round of the playoffs and will open the post season at the Scotiabank Saddledome with Games 1 and 2 on Friday, March 27 (7:00 p.m.) and Sunday, March 29 (4:00 p.m.) against a yet to be determined opponent.
