Calgary Hitmen News Release
Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen got a goal and three assists from Kyle Bortis Friday night to beat the Broncos 6-3 in Swift Current.
The win was Calgary's second in as many nights on the road following an 8-4 victory in Medicine Hat Thursday.
Brett Sonne scored twice for the Hitmen and now has 36 goals on the season. Joel Broda, Paul Postma and Brandon Kozun on a penalty shot also scored for Calgary.
Postma's goal was his 19th, tying a franchise record for most goals in a single season by a defenceman. He now shares the mark with Kenton Smith who scored 19 goals in the 1998/99 season.
Special teams proved to be a huge factor as the Hitmen went 3-8 on the power play. Swift Current was 0-4.
The Hitmen are now 7-0-1-0 in their last eight games and see their Western Hockey League leading record improve to 46-7-3-1. They sit three points ahead of the Vancouver Giants for first place overall.
Calgary returns to action Sunday evening to host the Kootenay Ice. Game time is 5:00 p.m. at the Pengrowth Saddledome.
Tickets are on sale now. For Group, Kid's Club, Birthday Packs, Minor Hockey Packs or Flex Packs call Customer Service at 777-4646. Individual tickets are available through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.ca
