
Hitmen Split Home and Home Set with Rebels

Calgary, AB - The Calgary Hitmen finished a home-and-home set with the Red Deer Rebels this afternoon welcoming them to the Scotiabank Saddledome for the third annual Bret Hitman Hart Game presented by Vallen. Calgary honoured Bret 'The Hitman' Hart for the outstanding contributions he has made to the franchise with a 'Forever A Hitmen' banner that was raised in a special ceremony prior to the game. The ceremony enshrined Hart as the fourth inductee in the 'Forever A Hitmen' program.
The Calgary Hitmen were shutout by Red Deer, dropping the second half of the weekend to the visitors. Red Deer was able to capitalize on five of six power play opportunities including four goals on major penalties taken by Calgary.
Scoring kicked off early for Red Deer seeing goals from Kai Uchacz, Craig Armstrong and two from Jhett Larson in the first period. Larson would round out a hat trick in the second period followed up by Mats Lindgren to make it 6-0. Brayden Peters replaced Buenaventura in net at 6:21 in the second. Red Deer would find the back of the net three more times in the period seeing goals from Jayden Grubbe, Carson Birnie and Hunter Mayo. Both teams were kept of the scoresheet for the third period making the final scoring 9-0 for Red Deer. Shots finished 57-25 in favour of the visitors.
Fans will now be treated to a post-game on-ice wresting show presented by Dungeon Wrestling. Calgary is back at the Saddledome on Wednesday, Mar. 15 to host the Lethbridge Hurricanes. Game time is 7:00 p.m. Calgary will then make the return trip to Lethbridge on Friday, Mar. 17 for a 7:00 p.m. start at ENMAX Centre.
