Cranbrook, BC - Adam Tambellini scored 1:12 into overtime to complete his first career WHL playoff hat-trick, lifting the Calgary Hitmen to an 8-7 victory over the Kootenay Ice on Tuesday night at Western Financial Place.

It was Tambellini's second overtime winner in as many games, giving the Hitmen a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven first round series.

The Ice forced sudden death when Rinat Valiev scored his second goal of the night with four seconds remaining in the third period.

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Travis Sanheim had a big night for the Hitmen with a team-leading five points, scoring once and setting up four others. Chase Lang had two goals with Pavel Karnaukhov and Taylor Sanheim adding singles.

Tim Bozon paced the Ice with six points, netting a pair of goals while recording four assists. Sam Reinhart also had two markers for the home team with Matt Alfaro providing the other Kootenay goal.

Calgary outshot the Ice 38-32 with Brendan Burke making eight saves in a relief appearance to record the win.

The series resumes Wednesday, Apr. 1, with Game 4 at Western Financial Place. Radio broadcast on Sportsnet 960 The FAN begins with a one hour pre-game show at 6:00 p.m.

The Hitmen and Ice will then return to the Scotiabank Saddledome for Game 5 on Friday, Apr. 3 at 7:00 p.m. Playoff tickets, starting at $19 for adults and $13 for children and students, are available at all Ticketmaster and the Scotiabank Saddledome box office. A buffet will be served in the Chrysler Club before each home playoff game, with doors opening 90 minutes prior to puck drop.
