Hillcats End Half with Shutout Win

Neftali Soto doubled home two runs in a three-run sixth inning and the Cats ended the first half with a 3-0 win.
The Hillcats got on the board in the sixth. Cody Puckett reached on an error and advanced to second when Josh Fellhauer reached on catcher's interference. Carlos Mendez loaded the bases with a single and Soto drove home Puckett and Fellhauer with a double. Mendez scored on the sacrifice fly by Kevyn Feiner.
The Nationals were held scoreless by the Hillcats pitching staff. Lance Janke made his first start since May 22 and threw six scoreless innings. He gave up only three hits and struck out two.
Brad Boxberger made his first relief appearance of the season. The Hillcats' lone all-star threw a scoreless inning and struck out two. Donnie Joseph picked up his fourth save of the season.
Lynchburg ends the first half 29-41, last place in the north division. The Cats have three days off before the second half begins. Lynchburg heads to Kinston Thursday to start the second half. Thursday's game starts at 7, with the Hillcats On Deck Show at 6:40 on KD Country and the Hillcats Radio Network.
