Toledo Mud Hens News Release
In the battle of Bacon vs. Eggs, the fried swine cracked the Hens' egg to steal a 7-4 victory. Kyle Ryan made the start for the Mud Hens, looking for his first win of the season, but allowed all seven runs to take the loss. Despite Toledo's best comeback efforts, Lehigh Valley cooked the Hens to take game three of the series.
The IronPigs got on the board right away in the first inning. With one out, Tyler Henson hit a double to center field to get the evening started. Ryan got the second out, but wasn't able to put Lehigh Valley away without allowing a run. Russ Canzler sent a ground ball into left field for a single to put the IronPigs up 1-0 after one inning.
After getting another run in the third inning, the IronPigs opened up the scoring in a big way during the bottom of the fifth. Lehigh Valley batted around in route to scoring five runs. After five innings, the egg was in the frying pan as Toledo trailed 7-0.
The Mud Hens were on the comeback trail though, and would not go quietly. Thanks to a bases loaded walk to Tyler Collins in the sixth inning, Toledo got on the board. In the seventh inning, Josh Wilson doubled home Alexi Casilla to pull be score to 7-2.
With two outs, Mike Hessman hit his fourteenth home run of the season to pull the score to 7-4. Hessman is now one home run away from the all-time affiliated minor league home run record held by Buzz Arlett. The comeback wasn't enough though, as the Lehigh Valley bullpen slammed the door on the game doe the win.
Battle of the breakfast foods continues from Lehigh Valley on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. as the Hens take on the IronPigs in the final game of the four game series.
