Stephenson Stays Undefeated in Bats 2-0 Win

LOUSIVILLE, Ky- The Louisville Bats (47-52) were able to snag their second win in seven games against the Columbus Clippers (54-44), 2-0, Wednesday night at Louisville Slugger Field while the Reds top prospect Robert Stephenson remains undefeated.

Rightfielder Juan Silva made his Triple-A debut for the Bats and singled in the third inning for his first Triple-A hit. He scored later in the inning on a sacrifice fly by second baseman Irving Falu to give Louisville a 1-0 lead.

The Reds' top prospect, righty Robert Stephenson (W 3-0, 3.27), started for Louisville and shut out the Clippers over six innings. He gave up two hits, zero runs, four walks, and struck out five.

On the mound for the Clippers was righty Shaun Marcum (L 7-2, 2.00). He went seven innings and gave up four hits, one unearned run, one walk and struck out nine.

In the eighth inning Brennan Boesch padded Louisville's lead with an RBI single, putting the Bats up 2-0.

Righty Collin Balester (S, 1) struck out two and walked one in one and one third innings to earn his first save of the season.

The Bats finish their four game split series with the Clippers Thursday at Louisville Slugger Field at 7:05 pm. Two lefties are projected to face off, as the Bats' David Holmberg (6-6, 4.57) and the Clippers' Michael Roth (7-4, 3.67) will take the mound.
