The Toronto Blue Jays tonight announced that they have signed RHP JOBA CHAMBERLAIN to a minor league contract. The righty will report to the Blue Jays' extended spring training in Dunedin, FL.
Chamberlain, 29, pitched 30 games out of the Detroit Tigers' bullpen this season, going 0-2 with a 4.09 ERA in 22.0 innings of work (32 H, 5 BB, 15 SO). The righty was released by Detroit on July 10. In his nine-year Major League career, Chamberlain is 25-21 with a 3.82 ERA in 359 appearances. He was 9-6 with a 4.75 ERA in 31 starts for the New York Yankees in 2009. Since that season, he has been used exclusively as a reliever.
