Round Rock Express News Release
(Nashville, TN) - Slowly but steadily, Round Rock lefty Carlos Hernandez is staging a comeback from shoulder surgery two years ago. On Thursday night at Greer Stadium in Nashville, Hernandez pitched seven outstanding shutout innings, and contributed himself with an RBI double in a three run sixth. The Express rode away with a 3-1 win over the Sounds.
During Hernandez' dominating, stint he only gave up three hits and two walks while striking out four. In fact, Hernandez was so stingy, the Sounds only got two runners into scoring position during his seven innings.
The Express put up three runs in the sixth on Barry Wesson's solo homer off starter and loser, John Housman, and RBI doubles by Charles Gipson and Hernandez.
After Hernandez left the game, Roberto Giron notched a shutout inning of relief. Scott Strickland came in to pitch the ninth and surrendered one run, making the final score 3-1 Round Rock.
The Express leads the series three games to one with the series finale at 7:00 on Friday night at Greer Stadium. Brandon Duckworth goes to the hill for the E-Train.
