Tucson Sidewinders News Release

The Sacramento RiverCats defeated the Sidewinders by the final score of 16-9. RHP Britt Reames (5-5) earned the win as the pitcher of record when the RiverCats broke an 8-8 tie in the 8th with a 2 spot against Sidewinder losing pitcher Javier Lopez (0-1). The game lasted a season long 3:27.

The RiverCats managed to score 16 runs without the aid of a home run, but solid efforts from up and down the lineup provided enough punch to outscore the Sidewinders. Sacramento received 4 hits from leadoff man LF Freddie Bynum and 3 hit games from 3B Andrew Beattie, SS Mike Rouse, and C Tom Gregorio. Of the 17 total hits from the Rivercats, only 4 were for extra bases, all doubles.

For Tucson, DH Andy Green continued his power stroke by knocking two out of the park. His 18th to lead off the game with the 1st run of the ballgame and his 19th to lead off the 9th with the final run of the ball game. 3B Brian Barden managed to put 3 up in the hit column before being tossed by 3B umpire Kevin Sweeney in the 7th while standing on second base.

A total of 13 pitchers were used in the ballgame including Sidewinder position player Corey Myers, who managed to record the final out of the ninth by getting CF Charles Thomas to pop out to the second baseman.

2,294 fans attended the contest. Tomorrow night's game will feature Sacramento's RHP Juan Cruz (4-1, 2.42) facing Tucson's LHP Michael Gosling (3-5, 6.35). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
