51s Return To Cashman Field This Saturday For Four Games

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the 2004 National League West Division Champion Los Angeles Dodgers, will return to Cashman Field for a brief four-game home stand against the Portland Beavers, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, from Saturday-Tuesday, Aug. 20-23. Saturday, Monday and Tuesday's games will begin at 7:05 p.m. and Sunday will be a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m. The Beavers and 51s will begin a nine-game series. Las Vegas will travel to Portland from Wednesday-Sunday, Aug. 24-28 for a five-game series. The 51s have 12 home games remaining on the 2005 season.

The 51s, 51-73, under manager Jerry Royster, are on a brief four-game road trip at Tacoma that concludes on Friday night.

The 51s 2005 home attendance is 282,594 and the team is averaging 4,709 through 60 dates. The 51s recorded three sellouts over the July 4th weekend and have five overall on the season. The Las Vegas franchise is 17,406 fans shy of reaching the 300,000 mark in home attendance for the 23rd consecutive season (1983-2005). The all-time home attendance reached the 7.5 million mark on Aug. 1.

The 51s will present Mayor Oscar Goodman Bobblehead Night, sponsored by FOX 5, KVVU TV, on Saturday. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a bobblehead of the Happiest Mayor of the Greatest City in the World!

The third game of the series on Monday will welcome The "Papa Joe" Chevalier Show. "Papa Joe" will broadcast his sports talk show from Cashman Field from 4 - 6:50 p.m. on FOX Sports Radio 1460-AM, the flagship station of 51s baseball. Chevalier will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and selected lucky fans will watch the Beavers/51s game from the "Papa Joe" Party Zone that evening.

Following the final road trip at Portland (Aug. 24-28), the 51s return to Cashman Field for the final eight games of the 2005 season from Aug. 29 - Sept. 5.

Tickets for all remaining 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box office. The box office is open Monday-Friday from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through TicketMaster (474-4000, www.ticketmaster.com). TicketMaster outlets are located at Smith's Food & Drug and Tower Records.

The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $7.00 (general admission), $8.00 (reserved), $10.00 (plaza) and $12 (field). A $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza, reserved and G.A. seats throughout the season. The Dugout Seats for the entire home schedule are sold out.
