January 25, 2015 - ECHL (ECHL)
South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, S.C. - Forward Caleb Herbert and Nathan Walker each scored a goal and an assist, but the South Carolina Stingrays (17-16-1-6) fell 3-2 to the Florida Everblades (26-7-1-3) Sunday afternoon at the North Charleston Coliseum.
The Stingrays kicked off the scoring 4:35 into the contest as Herbert caught a pass from Walker for a breakaway and beat Everblades netminder Andy Iles (W, 27 saves 29 shots) over the glove. Forward Rob Ricci netted the second assist. Walker nearly gave the Stingrays a two-goal advantage off a penalty shot opportunity at the 15:00 mark, but Iles denied him with the right pad.
Walker cashed in on the power play at 4:37 of the second period moving around Iles and tucking the puck inside the right post. Defenseman Marcus Perrier and Herbert grabbed the assists.
The Everglades started the comeback at 11:13 of the final frame as defenseman Mike Little capitalized on the power play during the first half of a double-minor penalty to Stingrays defenseman Wade Epp to cut the lead in half. Moments later, forward Alex Aleardi lit the lamp on the second half, tipping a pass from forward Mitch Wahl past Stingrays goaltender Adam Morrison (L, 23 saves on 26 shots) at 13:03. Everblades forward Alex Lavoie buried the game-winning goal at 14:40. The Stingrays finished the contest 1-for-3 on the power play while the Everblades went 2-for-5.
