Toledo Mud Hens News Release

Thad Weber opened up June with a career-high 12 strikeouts as the Hens defeated Buffalo, 5-2, on Friday night.

Weber started the game by striking out the side, save a solo homer by Josh Satin to give the Bisons an early lead. Weber struck out the side again in the third, and the Hens tied the game at 1-1 after Bryan Holaday knocked in Ben Guez following a leadoff triple.

The Bisons retook the lead in the fourth on a Fred Lewis RBI triple. It looked as if double plays were going to kill the Hens chances, until Brad Eldred jacked a two-run homer, his 21st of the season, to give the Hens a 3-2 lead. Brent Dlugach added two more for Toledo with a two-run single in the eighth.

Ryan Raburn started for the Hens for the first time since 2010 and went 0-for-2, grounding into one of the Hens' three double plays. Raburn had spent the last two seasons in Detroit before being sent down after a .146 start this season.

Chris Bootcheck fanned two in the ninth to convert his 11th save of the season.

The Hens will continue their series with Buffalo tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. at Fifth Third Field. Andy Oliver is set to take the hill for the Hens.

Game Notes

Brad Eldred leads all levels of baseball with 60 RBI.

Thad Weber had previously struck out 11 batters with AA Erie on August 15, 2010.

Justin Henry went 3-for-4 to extend his team-leading average to .321
