
Hector Santiago Recalled to Chicago White Sox

(Fort Mill, SC) -Charlotte starting pitcher Hector Santiago, who did not allow a run in 14.2 innings pitched with the Knights this season, has been recalled to Chicago, as announced by the White Sox earlier today. In Chicago, Santiago takes the roster spot of former Knight Leyson Septimo, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to August 14).
Santiago, 24, began the season with Chicago and posted a 2-1 record with a 3.66 ERA and four saves over 32 relief appearances (39.1 innings pitched). On July 30, Santiago was optioned to Charlotte and started three games for the Knights. The Newark, NJ native posted a 1-0 mark with a 0.00 ERA for Charlotte.
The 24-year-old left-hander is the 14th different Knights player this season to go from Charlotte to Chicago. Other Knights to receive promotions to Chicago this season include: outfielders Jordan Danks and Dewayne Wise, infielder Ray Olmedo, and pitchers Dylan Axelrod, Brian Bruney, Deunte Heath, Pedro Hernandez, Jhan Carlos Marinez Brian Omogrosso, Jose Quintana, Eric Stults, Septimo, and Donnie Veal. Both Veal and Axelrod have gone to Chicago on two occasions this season.
Chicago also announced that Paul Konerko was being activated off of the seven-day disabled list. Konerko took the roster spot of infielder Orlando Hudson, who the White Sox placed on the 15-day disabled list.
The Charlotte Knights are the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
