Heat Sign Goaltender Tyson Sexsmith

Abbotsford, BC - Abbotsford Heat General Manager Jay Feaster announced today the signing 23-year-old goaltender Tyson Sexsmith.

Sexsmith played 34 games with the Worcester Sharks (AHL) last season with a 2.33 GAA and a 0.916 save percentage. The Mission, British Columbia resident who grew up in Priddis, Alberta has played four games in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) with Metallurg Novokuznetsk this season.

Sexsmith was originally selected in the third round (91st overall) by the San Jose Sharks in the 2007 Entry Draft after winning a Memorial Cup with the Vancouver Giants (WHL) in 2007. Sexsmith posted 120 regular season wins over parts of five seasons with the Giants, and stands as the club's all-time leader in wins. Sexsmith also set a Canadian Hockey League and Western Hockey League record in 2008-09 with 26 career shutouts.
