Stockton Heat News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - The Stockton Heat mount a furious comeback in the third period, but eventually fall to the Bakersfield Condors 6-3 Tuesday night at Rabobank Arena. Freddie Hamilton, Mark Jankowski and Turner Elson all contributed to an eight-goal final frame, while goaltender Nick Schneider made countless point-blank stops to keep the Heat in the game. However, a couple bad bounces and a late shorthanded goal push the Condors over the Heat, effectively ending Stockton's postseason hopes as the Heat can no longer mathematically earn a spot in the Calder Cup Playoffs. The Stockton Heat will now look forward to playing spoiler to San Jose, as the Heat and Barracuda open up a home-and-home series Saturday night at Stockton Arena for Military Appreciation Night.

QUOTES

"I thought we had a good game overall. I thought we made a few mistakes and [Bakersfield] capitalized on them. Our guys pushed right up until the end and it's unfortunate we didn't get the result that we wanted." - Head Coach Ryan Huska with his feelings on tonight's game.

"You play a long season to try and get yourself into the postseason. That's where everyone wants to end up. We had a few stretches of our season when we weren't good enough and that's cost us at this point of the season. It's not a good feeling." - Coach Huska on being eliminated from playoff contention.

"These upcoming games are the test to see who is going to compete and play the right way when there's nothing on the line but pride. We play for a very proud organization and a great organization, so we know our guys will show up and play hard." - Coach Huska on the mindset going into the final two games of the season against San Jose.
