Harrisburg Heat News Release
The Harrisburg Heat hosted the Detroit Waza Flo on Saturday. The first time the two teams met, it was a competitive 8-7 loss for the Heat. Saturday's game was more of the same, but the Heat (0-8) dropped a 5-2 decision.
Harrisburg's Derrick Long opened the scoring six minutes into the first quarter when he deflected the ball off a Detroit player and into the net. Detroit's Thiago Goncalves answered back with one minute left in the second quarter. There was no additional scoring in the second quarter, although both teams saw opportunities.
Tyler Witmer picked up the action in the third quarter when he scored with an assist from Patrick Thompson to put the Heat up 2-1. Detroit added four unanswered goals from Ricardo Sobreira, Joey Tinnion, Mardney Felix, and Nik Djokic.
Rafael Dias defended the goal for Detroit, and Scott Krotee took the loss in the net for the Heat.
The Heat's next match is Friday, January 8 at 7:30 in Syracuse against the Silver Knights.
NOTES: The Heat missing Val Teixeira, Georges NouBossie, and Chris Williams who had coaching commitments. Adauto Neto, Chris Hall, Tom Mellor remained out with knee injuries.
