Game Preview: Sidekicks Look to Extend Winning Streak Saturday, Face off against Brownsville

Allen, TEXAS - Tonight the Dallas Sidekicks (4-4) will host the Brownsville Barracudas (3-5) at Allen Event Center at 7:05 p.m. In addition to the MASL action, at halftime the team will host their annual Dallas Sidekicks Alumni Match, where players such as Doc Lawson, David Doyle, Giampaulo Pedroso, Chad Deering and many more will take the turf once again.

The Sidekicks will look to extend their four-game winning streak, earning their latest victory on Tuesday when they took down Saltillo Rancho Seco 6-4.

Four Sidekicks are in a tight race to lead the team in scoring, forward Cameron Brown coming out on top with 7 goals and six assists, followed by defender Cody Ellis (9G, 3A), midfielder RJ Luevano (5G, 7A) and forward Arthur Ivo (9G, 2A). Goalkeeper Juan Gamboa, Ellis and fellow defensive standouts Fabinho and Mike Jones have kept the teams' GAA at 5.8, while Brownsville sits at 8.1.

Brownsville's last match was a 10-5 victory over Saltillo Rancho Seco on Dec. 27, where forward Luis Angel Landin and Moises Gonzalez each netted a hat trick. The two top the Barracuda's offense with 19 points each. Goalkeeper Pedro Muñiz brings a 6.63 GAA and .773 save percentage.

An area where Dallas has the definite upper-hand is on the powerplay, Brownsville's kill percentage a league-low 33.33 percent while the Sidekicks' have scored on 54.17 percent of their chances so far this season - the third best in the MASL.

Tonight is the annual Dallas Sidekicks Alumni Match, where key players from the team's 30-plus year history will face off in a Green vs. White scrimmage. Select alumni will sign post-game autographs, and the first 1,000 fans in the door at Allen Event Center will receive a free throwback t-shirt.

All Dallas Sidekicks home games are broadcasted on the Time Warner Cable SportsChannel (local channel 825) and can be streamed free online at www.golivesportscast.com.

After a few day's rest, the Sidekicks will embark on a tough road trip south where they will play three games in three days next weekend. Saltillo Rancho Seco is up first in an 8:05 p.m. matchup Friday, Dec. 8. The team then makes their way to Brownsville where they will see more of the Barracudas, playing at 8:05 on Saturday and 6:02 on Sunday. The team will finish out January at home with a back-to-back pair of games on Jan. 14 and 15 vs. the Tacoma Stars and Ontario Fury, followed by a match against Soles de Sonora on Jan. 30.
