Heat Announce Roster Moves

April 11, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Stockton Heat News Release

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Heat, proudly owned by the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League, assign forward Mitchell Heard to the team's ECHL affiliate, the Adirondack Thunder, and defenseman Yann Sauve to the Manchester Monarchs. The two Heat teammates will meet up in the first round of the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs as the East Division winning Monarchs will host the sixth placed Adirondack Thunder in a best of seven series.

Heard, 24, has played 22 games for Stockton this year to go along with 33 games with the Thunder. Despite not playing with the Thunder since being recalled to the Heat on February 11, Heard finished the season as the fifth leading scorer on the team with 32 points (12-20-32).

Sauve, 26, was acquired by the Heat in an AHL trade on March 7 with the Portland Pirates, playing a total of 4 games with Stockton in two separate stints with the club. He also suited up in 3 games with the Pirates but spent most of the 2015-16 campaign with Manchester, playing 52 games and recording 29 points (7-22-29) ranking him third on the Monarchs among defensive scoring leaders.

The Thunder and Monarchs will open up the 2016 Kelly Cup Playoffs on Wednesday at 4 o'clock PST in Manchester. The pair of teams played 15 times in the regular season with the Thunder going 7-5-2-1. Heard played in six of those contests registering 8 points (2-6-8) and going plus-5 while Sauve suited up on the other side of the rivalry nine times, picking up 5 points (1-4-5) and going minus-2.

The Heat are back in action on Tuesday in a must win game against the Bakersfield Condors at 7:00 p.m. at Rabobank Arena. Then the Heat open up a home-and-home series with the San Jose Barracuda to end the regular season starting at Stockton Arena on Saturday at 7:30.

It's Military Appreciation Night, meaning the Heat will be wearing special, military themed jerseys that will be auctioned off during and after the game. Proceeds from the jersey auction, along with ticket sales, will go to the Welcome Home Heroes Foundation, who provide aide to members of our military upon their return home, along with supporting military families.

For full season ticket holders who have extra tickets they won't be using, call your account representative today to donate them to active, reserve and veteran soldiers and their families.
