Hartford Wolf Pack News Release

The Wolf Pack (39-31-3-0, 81 pts., .555 pts. percentage) stayed alive in the AHL playoff race this past week, with wins in two of their three games. The Pack swept a home-and-home set with the Springfield Falcons, equaling a team season high for goals-scored in a 7-3 win Friday in Springfield and downing the Falcons 6-2 at the XL Center on Saturday. A line of Daniel Paille (3-2-5), Chris Brown (1-3-4) and Boo Nieves (2-2-4) combined for 13 points in those two victories, and Jayson Megna added a goal and an assist in Saturday's game. Sunday in Portland, however, a late third-period Pirate goal broke a 2-2 and sent the Wolf Pack to a 3-2 defeat.

This week:

The Wolf Pack finish the regular season with their only Canadian road trip of the season. On Wednesday, the Pack visits the AHL-leading Toronto Marlies for a morning-start game that faces off at 11:00. Then it's off to St. John's, Newfoundland, where the Wolf Pack and St. John's IceCaps will tangle in 6:00 games Friday and Saturday nights.

Wednesday, April 13 at the Toronto Marlies (Maple Leafs) at the Ricoh Coliseum, 11:00 AM

- With a 52-15-5-1 record for 110 points and a .753 points percentage, first-year head coach Sheldon Keefe's Marlies have clinched first place overall in the AHL.

- This is the Wolf Pack franchise's first visit to Toronto in over five years, and only its fifth ever. The last was February 9, 2011, when the then-Connecticut Whale fell to the Marlies by a score of 9-2.

- The only previous meeting this season between the Wolf Pack and Marlies was the Wolf Pack's "Sonar's Ed-u-skate" school-day game November 4 at the XL Center. Toronto defeated the Pack that day by a score of 5-0.

- Following the conclusion of the parent Toronto Maple Leafs' NHL season Saturday, the Marlies received leading scorer T.J. Brennan (24-43-67 in 67 GP) and fellow defenseman Andrew Campbell, along with forwards William Nylander, Tobias Lindberg, Frederik Gauthier and Sam Carrick, and netminder Garret Sparks, back from the big club.

Friday, April 15 at the St. John's IceCaps (Montreal) at Mile One Centre, 6:00 PM

- This first of back-to-back games in St. John's is the third meeting of the season between the Wolf Pack and IceCaps. Hartford swept two earlier games between the two clubs at the XL Center, winning 3-1 on opening night October 10 and 4-1 January 30.

- Last season the Wolf Pack dropped both of their two visits to St. John's, falling 3-0 on February 10 and 5-4 in a shootout the next night.

- The IceCaps enter the week 31-32-8-3 for 73 points and a .493 points percentage, after sweeping a pair of home games from the Utica Comets, 3-2 in overtime on Saturday and 7-1 Sunday.

- IceCap goal-scoring leader Charles Hudon (28-25-53 in 65 GP) had two goals and an assist in St. John's' 7-1 win over Utica Sunday, giving him eight goals and ten points in his last six games. Hudon finished last week third in the AHL in goals.

Saturday, April 16 at the St. John's IceCaps (Montreal) at Mile One Centre, 6:00 PM

- The Wolf Pack come into this week 19-15-1-0 in 35 road games on the season, and they are 3-4-0-1 in eight all-time away contests vs. the IceCaps.

- St. John's enters the final week of the regular season with a home-ice record of 17-12-6-1 in 36 games.
