PORTLAND, ME - The Maine Red Claws, presented by Quirk Chevrolet, today announced that point guard Kenny Hayes and guard/forward Morris Almond have been named Co-Performers of the Week by the NBA Development League.

"We are extremely proud of Kenny Hayes and Morris Almond," said Red Claws President and General Manager. "These two games against Springfield this past weekend were must-wins for the team, and Kenny and Mo stepped up to lead our team in a big way. This is a much-deserved honor."

Kenny Hayes lit up the scoreboard in Sunday's 118-113 win over the visiting Armor, finishing the night with 52 points, just one point shy of the all-time league mark of 53 points in a single game, including 26 in the 4th quarter to close the door on the visiting Armor. Hayes' 52 points shattered the all-time Maine Red Claws record of 40 points, set by teammate Morris Almond in 2010. Almond also shares the all-time league mark of 53 points in a game, set during the 2008-09 season while with Utah and tied by Will Conroy of the Albuquerque Thunderbirds later that same season. Hayes also set new team marks for field goals made (18) and field goals attempted (29) while equaling the all-time free throws made mark (12). 18 field goals made also ranks second all-time in league history. His stunning performance on Sunday came on the heels of 12 point, 6 assist effort in Friday's 100-94 win over the first-place Armor.

Morris Almond has taken the Red Claws to a new level since rejoining the team January 17. In 16 games, the high-scoring guard/forward has averaged 23.4 ppg, which is 3rd highest in the league this season, and has led the team in scoring in 10 of 16 games played. He picked up his highest point total this season in Friday's win over Springfield with 34 points while adding 10 rebounds. On Sunday, Almond added 31 points and 9 rebounds to his season tally.

The Red Claws will return to action tomorrow with an 11 AM game vs. the Erie BayHawks. The team will swing through Erie tomorrow, Fort Wayne Thursday and Canton Saturday before returning home on Sunday, March 11 for Military Appreciation Night where both players will be recognized for garnering the league's Performers of the Week honors. Hayes will also be presented with the game ball from Sunday's win in recognition for shattering the team's mark for points in a single game.
