Fort Wayne, IN (March 5, 2012)- The Mad Ants have partnered with the American Red Cross and have named this week "Mad Ants week at the Red Cross". This special week followed by a Red Cross Night at a Mad Ants game on Sunday, March 11th is a way to celebrate Red Cross Month which occurs in March.
Fans who donate blood from Monday, March 1st - Saturday, March 10th will receive two free tickets to the March 11th Mad Ants game and be entered into a drawing for two additional courtside tickets to the game.
The Red Cross responds to nearly 70,000 disasters a year in this country, providing shelter, food, emotional support and other necessities to those affected. It provides 24-hour support to members of the military, veterans and their families; collects and distributes more than 40 percent of the nation's blood supply and trains more than 9 million people in first aid, water safety and other life-saving skills every year.
Here in northeast Indiana, the American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana responded to 152 local emergencies, assisted 6,155 military families and trained 24,732 people in lifesaving skills. And, people from this area donated more than 130,000 units of blood a year.
Fans are encouraged to wear red to the game in celebration of YOUR American Red Cross.
