Maine's Morris Almond and Kenny Hayes Named NBA Development League Co-Performers of the Week

NEW YORK, March 5, 2012 - Morris Almond and Kenny Hayes of the Maine Red Claws were today named NBA Development League Co-Performers of the Week for games played Feb. 27-March 4, when the Red Claws went 2-0. This marks the first time either has earned the honor in their career.

Almond, a 6-5, 210-pound guard from Rice, averaged 32.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while shooting 64 percent from the floor last week. He notched back-to-back 30-plus point games, finishing with 34 points in a 100-94 win over the Springfield Armor on March 2. He came back on March 4 and scored 31 points in a 118-113 victory over the Armor on March 4.

Hayes, a 6-2, 175-pound guard out of Miami-Ohio, averaged 32.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists, shooting 53 percent from the floor. He scored an NBA D-League season-high 52 points on March 4, just one point shy of the all-time NBA D-League record (53), which Almond co-holds with Rio Grande Valley Viper point guard Will Conroy.

For the season, Hayes is averaging 16.3 points and 4.8 assists, while Almond is averaging a team-high 23.4 points and 5.9 rebounds.

Other top performers considered included Austin's Eric Dawson, who averaged 21.0 points and 12.0 rebounds in two games; Bakersfield's Derrick Byars, who averaged 17.3 points and 8.8 rebounds in four games; Canton's T.J. Campbell, who averaged 18.7 points and 8.3 assists in three games; Dakota's Edwin Ubiles, who averaged 22.3 points and 4.0 rebounds in four games; Erie's D.J. Kennedy, who averaged 23.2 points and 8.3 rebounds in three games; Fort Wayne's Ron Howard, who averaged 16.7 points and 5.0 rebounds in three games; Idaho's Mikki Moore, who averaged 14.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in three games; Iowa's Curtis Stinson, who averaged 13.5 points and 6.5 assists in four games; Los Angeles' Courtney Fortson, who averaged 21.7 points and 5.7 assists in three games; Reno's Andre Emmett, who averaged 23.0 points and 6.5 rebounds in two games; Rio Grande Valley's Will Conroy, who averaged 14.0 points and 9.5 assists in two games; Springfield's Jerry Smith, who averaged 26.0 points and 4.0 assists in two games; Texas' Antonio Daniels, who averaged 17.0 points and 8.5 assists in two games and Tulsa's Marcus Lewis, who averaged 16.0 points and 14.0 rebounds in two games.
