Boise Hawks News Release

KEIZER, Ore. - Ryan Jones lined a walk-off RBI single into right field to cap a two-run rally, as Salem-Keizer stunned the Boise Hawks, 4-3, before 3,226 Fathers Day fans at Volcanoes Stadium.

The Hawks led 3-0 heading into the bottom of the eighth, but the hosts cut the margin to 3-2 on an RBI fielders choice by Rafael Rodriguez and a RBI single from Bryan Nicholson. In the ninth, Michael Mergenthaler lined a one-out single off Pete Levitt, with Chuckie Jones following with a sharp single on a 3-2 pitch. Bryce Shafer was summoned from the pen, striking out Stephen Yarrow for the second out, but Brennan Metzger blooped an RBI single into center to tie the game, before the Michigan State producted ended the game with the base hit on another 3-2 pitch.

Boise wasted a stellar performance by young right-hander Tayler Scott, who tossed five innings of shutout ball in his 2012 debut. The South African allowed just three hits and struck out a career-high four.

The Hawks took an early 1-0 lead in the second on a Jeimer Candelario RBI single, pushing the lead to 2-0 in the fifth on a two-out RBI single from Gioskar Amaya. Boise would get an insurance run in the eighth on a Candelario RBI infield single.

Shawon Dunston Jr., Amaya, and Candelario each had two hits for the Hawks, while Brian Nicholson and Mergenthaler had two hits for Salem-Keizer.

Game 4 of the series is tomorrow night, with Ian Dickson making his professional debut opposite Kendry Flores at 6:35 p.m. (PT)
