Boise Hawks News Release
VANCOUVER, B.C. - In game two of the series, the Boise Hawks (Short Season A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies) fell 3-2 to the Vancouver Canadians (Short Season A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays).
Zak Baayoun was impressive in his eighth start of the season going five innings, only giving up three hits, no runs or walks and struck out three Canadians.
Boise was the first to strike runs on with a two-run fifth inning. After a leadoff double by Daniel Cope, Yorvis Torrealba advanced him to third base off a groundout. Trevor Boone then singled into center field that got Cope across, making it 1-0 Hawks. Boone later stole second and Nic Motley drew a walk and with two outs, Turner Brown lined a ball into left field that scored Boone, making it 2-0 with Boise ahead.
The bottom of the sixth was when Vancouver struck back big. The Canadians scored three runs off a fielder's choice, a wild pitch, and a fielding error to take the lead and later secure the win.
The Hawks did not register a base hit after the fifth inning and drop now to 9-15 on the second half of the season.
Monday night will be the conclusion of the three-game series with left-hander Breiling Eusebio expected to start for the Hawks.
