Oklahoma City Comets News Release

Salt Lake scores five runs in the eighth to win series finale over Oklahoma 7-5 Friday night at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Brandon Wood's 3-run homer in the eighth put the Bees ahead for good.

Nick Gorneault went 3-for-4 with two homers and four RBIs to lead the way for the Bees. Gorneault finished the series 4-for-12 with three homers and five RBIs.

RedHawk starter Alfredo Simon allowed just one run on three hits in six innings, but didn't get the win because the bullpen failed to hold a late lead. Ron Mahay and Ezequiel Astacio combined to allow six runs on six hits in just two innings of work. Astacio (2-3) took the loss, allowing two home runs in the eighth inning.

The Bees used five pitchers to get through the game. Jason Bulger (3-1) pitched a perfect seventh for the win, and Marcus Gwyn pitched the ninth for his seventh save.

Oklahoma (23-31) plays Colorado Springs Saturday at 7:05 pm CDT at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. Salt Lake (31-24) travels to New Orleans to play the Zephyrs at 6:00 pm CDT.
