Fresno Grizzlies News Release

Fresno, CA - More than 7,000 fans were thirsty for a win Thursday night, and the Fresno Grizzlies delivered. The end result - an 11-10 win for the Grizzlies.

An eight-run buffer built by Round Rock, including a six-run third inning, would not hold up as a relentless offensive effort by the Grizzlies brought Fresno all the way back into the game and then some with a pair of five run innings.

As the game moved in to the bottom of the fourth inning, the Express (24-30) had built up a seemingly insurmountable lead of 8-0, including seven runs on Fresno (28-27) starting pitcher Sun Woo Kim.

Express center fielder Eric Bruntlett led off the bottom of the third inning with a single, the beginning of a six run inning that saw six straight batters reach base, all of whom scored. The Express rally consisted of three singles, a walk, a triple and a home run, respectively, to extend their lead to 7-0.

But as it turned out, the stars were aligned for the Grizzlies. A pair of five run innings in the fourth and fifth innings secured the comeback for the Grizzlies, who pounded out 14 hits on the night.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Grizzlies sent 10 batters to the plate, five of whom scored. The fifth inning brought more of the same as Fresno sent nine batters to the plate, and another five scored. For the Grizzlies, Tomas De La Rosa, Nate Schierholtz and Justin Knoedler all scored two runs on the night, with leftfielder Brian Horwitz leading the way with three runs.

The win puts Fresno back over the .500 mark and it will have a chance for its first sweep of the season tomorrow in the fourth and final meeting between the two teams.

Friday's game will also have plenty of star-power with the continuance of Friday Night Fireworks (presented by Bingham Toyota), and Rally Towels (presented by Rally's) to the first 1,000 fans through the gates. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Tickets are available at the Chukchansi Park ticket office, over the phone at 559-320-TIXS, or online at www.fresnogrizzlies.com.
