Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Waterloo, Iowa-Just hours before traveling to meet the Madison Capitols, the Waterloo Black Hawks have completed a trade with their Friday opponents, acquiring defenseman Mason Anderson in exchange for forward Sean MacTavish.
Anderson will be the first player from Alaska on the Black Hawks' roster since another midseason addition - goalie Stephon Williams - in 2012. Anderson has appeared in 30 USHL games for the Capitols this winter. The 6-2, 175-pound Anchorage native spent the preseason with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, then was dealt to the Capitols in September. He scored his first USHL goal against the Saints on October 25th, and also has five assists with a +1 plus/minus differential this season.
Last winter, Anderson was a member of the Weyburn Red Wings of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. He took the ice 20 times with a goal and seven assists.
MacTavish was in his first season with the Black Hawks. In the course of 31 games, the Edmonton, Alberta native had seven assists and a -14 plus/minus mark.
Anderson could have the opportunity to make his home debut at Young Arena on Saturday when Waterloo's busy weekend continues. After visiting Madison on Friday, the Hawks host the Tri-City Storm on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday is Ladies' Night, sponsored by Capri College, then Sunday afternoon U.S. Bank presents characters from the movie "Frozen." Good seats are still available for both home games from the Domino's Black Hawks Box Office by calling (319) 291-7680 or online from waterlooblackhawks.com.
