Bloomington, IL - Before the United States Hockey League's February 6th trade deadline, the Bloomington Thunder completed a transaction with the North American Hockey League. The trade sent defenseman Joshua Shellman to the Michigan Warriors of the NAHL in exchange for future considerations. Shellman rejoins the team he spent parts of two seasons with from 2012-14.

Shellman leaves Bloomington after 22 games with the Thunder and 32 overall USHL contests. With a stint on injured reserve, the 20-year old defenseman grabbed six assists with the Thunder, three of which came on the power play.

A native of Detroit, MI, Shellman began his USHL career with the Indiana Ice in 2012 where he played ten games to open the season before being sent to the Warriors where he compiled 29 games and six points (1g, 5a). Shellman stuck in Michigan for the 13-14 season playing in 58 games for the Warriors and grabbing 30 points (8g, 30a).

The 5-foot-9 D-man played his youth hockey with Belle Tire and Little Caesars of the Tier I Elite Hockey League.
