Madison Capitols News Release
Madison, WI- The Madison Capitols announced on Thursday that they have acquired forward Sean MacTavish (Edmonton, Alberta) from the Waterloo Black Hawks in exchange for defenseman Mason Anderson.
In 31 games with the Black Hawks this season, the 20-year-old MacTavish has registered seven assists. He was chosen by Waterloo in the first round of the 2014 USHL Entry Draft.
Prior to his time in Waterloo, MacTavish played for the Sherwood Park Crusaders in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), where he scored 72 points in 60 games a season ago.
MacTavish is the son of longtime NHL veteran, four-time Stanley Cup champion, and current Edmonton Oilers' general manager Craig MacTavish. His father is also remembered as the last NHL player to legally play without a helmet.
MacTavish and his new club will remain on home ice for a crucial three-in-three weekend next Friday through Sunday as they host MacTavish's old team, Waterloo (Fri., 7 p.m.), and Youngstown (Sat., 7 p.m. & Sun., 3 p.m.). Tickets for all contests are available by visiting the "Tickets" tab of www.madcapshockey.com or by calling (608) 257-CAPS (2277).
Friday's contest is another $1 Beer Night; special dollar beer night party packs are available for purchase by visiting the Capitols' web page. Saturday, Feb. 7 is Kessler's Diamonds giveaway night; the first 500 fans will receive a piece of cubic zirconium, one of which will be a true diamond. Sunday will be D.C. Eagle's birthday bash as various area mascots will join the Capitols' eagle for a 3 p.m. start.
