GREEN BAY, WI - Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson had a three point night but the Omaha Lancers were unable to score the tying goal late in the third period as the Green Bay Gamblers held on for a 5-4 victory in a back-and-forth game on Friday night at the Resch Center.

After no scoring in the first twenty minutes of action, Derek Barach got the scoring going for the Gamblers early in the second period. At the 2:02 mark of the middle frame, Barach scored his 8th goal of the season with the only assist from Jason Dhooghe as he beat Kris Oldham in front of the net for the 1-0 lead over the Lancers.

The lead didn't last too long as Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson evened up the score. After a shot, the puck went off of goaltender Jason Pawloski then pin-balled off bodies in front of the net. Forsbacka-Karlsson got the final touch for his 13th of the season and team leading 43rd point on the year tying the game 1-1. Jake Henderson was credited with the assist for his 11th helper on the season.

Green Bay put together a pair of goals just over two minutes apart from one another to take a 3-1 lead after two periods of play. Aaron O'Neill scored his first goal of the season at the 10:35 mark and that was answered by a Marc Michaelis goal as he took a pass from Christopher Brown and one-timed it by Kris Oldham for a 3-1 advantage after the second period came to a close.

The Lancers started the final period the right way. Jake Henderson and Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson worked the puck below the goal line as Anthony Angello waited out front. Angello took and pass and let a snap shot go that beat Jason Pawloski just 39 seconds into the period to pull the deficit back to just a single goal. It was Angello's 11th of the season.

After picking up an assist in the second period, Christopher Brown got into the goal column during the third period. He criss-crossed in the offensive zone with Joey Marooney who then returned the pass to Brown and he sent a wrist shot into the net for his 13th on the season and another two goal lead for Green Bay. This time they led 4-2 with 7:30 remaining in regulation.

Anthony Angello struck again to keep the Lancers alive in the third. Hank Crone brought the puck down the left wing wall and sent a quick pass to Angello who was waiting in the high slot. Angello took the pass and let a hard wrist shot go that beat Pawloski for the second time of the night and 13th of the year with 11:26 left to go in regulation time to once again, make it a one goal game as the Lancers now were behind 4-3.

After being awarded a power-play, the Gamblers kept the chess match of scoring going with a tally while up a skater to take a 5-3 lead with only 7:30 left in the game. Sam Miletic picked up the power-play goal beating Oldham while Sam Saliba and Ryan Tait were credited with assists on the play.

With the net empty and Kris Oldham on the bench, Omaha needed two goals to force overtime. Jake Gingell took the puck just inside the blue line and let a low shot go that found its way into the net with only 18 seconds to go in the game. The goal however was given to Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson who deflected the shot in front of the crease. It was Forsbacka-Karlsson's second of the night and 45th point of the season.

Omaha put two good chances on net after an offensive zone faceoff with ten seconds left in the game but Green Bay held on for the 5-4 victory. Oldham stopped 28 of 33 shots in the loss.

The Lancers finish out their two game series with the Green Bay Gamblers tomorrow night inside the Resch Center. Puck drops at 7:05PM both nights with LIVE coverage beginning at 6:50PM with the Valpak Pregame Show on The Mighty 1290 KOIL, www.mighty1290koil.com, and www.fasthockey.com.
