Hauschild Dominates LumberKings' Lineup

Clinton LumberKings News Release
Davenport, IA - The tandem pitching style used by the Quad Cities River Bandits shut down Clinton's potent offense for the second consecutive day. The LumberKings struck out a season-high 15 times on Sunday night in a 4-1 loss at Modern Woodmen Park.
Starter Mike Hauschild breezed through five innings with little resistance from Clinton. The right-hander struck out a career-high ten and earned his fifth win of the year. Backing Hauschild was Jordan Jankowski who worked three scoreless innings and struck out four. The 15 strikeouts came 24 hours after Clinton fanned 12 times in the series opener.
Much like Saturday night, Quad Cities took advantage of shaky defense deployed by Clinton. In the second inning, a Taylor Ard fielding error allowed a run to score to give the River Bandits a 1-0 lead. The error ending up costing LumberKings' starter Victor Sanchez two runs in the frame.
A Carlos Correa double and Rio Ruiz single in the third upped the 'Bandits lead to 3-0. They quickly added on in the fourth when second baseman Austin Elkins took Sanchez deep for a solo shot, his fourth of the year.
Clinton wouldn't get on the board until the ninth inning when Jordy Lara hit his team-high seventh home run of the season.
The lone bright spot in the game was the bullpen work of Jochi Ogando and Richard Vargas. The two combined for four shutout innings in the loss.
Game three of the five-game series is set for Monday in Davenport. Clinton sends right-hander Matt Anderson (4-6, 4.24) to the mound against Quad Cities' left-hander Colton Cain (3-5, 4.57). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM CT at Modern Woodmen Park.
