Burlington Bees News Release

Seth Streich delivered six scoreless innings to help the Beloit Snappers win 2-0 and complete a six-hit shutout of the Burlington Bees on Sunday afternoon at Pohlman Field.

It has been a rough start to the second half for the Burlington Bees (27-48, 1-9), who dropped their eighth game in a row and have won just one of its first 10 games in the second half. This afternoon, the offense struggled against a Beloit Snappers (51-29, 8-2) pitching staff led by Seth Streich (9-4).

Streich continued his very strong season, firing six scoreless frames against a Bees offense that was held scoreless for the second time in four games. The Bees only real scoring chance came in the fifth against Streich. Michael Bolaski singled to start the inning and Chevy Clarke followed with a walk. Sandy Martinez sacrificed the two men into scoring position, but Pedro Toribio and Wendell Soto both struck out to end the threat.

Reid Scoggins got the start for Burlington and was slated to go two innings, but only lasted 1.1, walking three men to start the second inning. He got his only out when Matt Olson tried to steal third base and was thrown out by Martinez. Brandon Love (1-4) came in out of the bullpen to throw 3.1 innings. He struggled in the fifth inning, allowing two runs to come across on a flurry of hits and walks.

Aaron Shipman walked to lead off the fifth and advanced to second on a bunt single by Brett Vertigan. After Daniel Robertson popped out on a bunt attempt, Christopher Bostick singled to load the bases. Renato Nunez walked to bring home Shipman and put the Snappers on the board. One more run came home on a Matt Olson single.

The Bees will try to avoid being swept on Monday afternoon when Pat Lowery takes on Vince Voiro at 7:00 p.m.
