Bridgeport, Conn. - Mike Iggulden and Jack Hillen each scored a goal and an assist, but it was the Hartford Wolf Pack scoring three unanswered goals to come-from-behind and beat the Sound Tigers 4-3 in overtime. Michael Sauer was credited with the game-winner in the extra session. Artem Anisimov, Brodie DuPont and Pierre Parenteau each had a tally for the Wolf Pack. Trevor Smith scored the first goal of the game for the Sound Tigers. Peter Mannino was in goal for the Sound Tigers for the second straight game and stopped 28 of the 32 shots he faced while Miika Wiikman earned the victory turning aside 36 Sound Tiger shots. The overtime does earn the Sound Tigers a point in the standings but drops their record to 15-5-1-2, placing them second in the East Division with 33 points.
Smith opened the scoring late in the first period when he banged home loose puck in front of Wiikman, giving the Sound Tigers the 1-0 lead. Kurtis McLean wound up and fired a shot from the center-point position that Wiikman stopped but Smith was there on the door-step the push the puck through the Hartford net-minder for his eighth goal of the season. Chris Lee also had an assist on the tally coming at 18:55.
The Sound Tigers would take a 2-0 lead on a power-play goal from Hillen, about five minutes into the second period. McLean set the play up from the right-wing boards and fed a pass to Hillen at the point where he fired his third goal of the season past Wiikman. Iggulden also had an assist on the goal. Hartford would answer five minutes later when Anisimov drove to the net and finished a loose puck in front of Mannino to cut the lead to 2-1. Mike Ouellette and Patrick Rissmiller each had assists on Anisimov's goal, coming on the man-advantage. Iggulden and Hillen would connect for the Sound Tigers, regaining the two-goal lead at the 12:22 mark of the middle frame. Hillen took a clearing attempt along the boards and walked the puck to the center of the ice. As he looked up, Hillen saw Iggulden at the back post and snapped a pass to the Sound Tigers' leading scorer who one-timed the puck past Wiikman's right pad for his 12th goal of the season, to give the Sound Tigers the 3-1 lead. Only 28 seconds later, DuPont would blast his fourth marker of the year past Mannino, who was screened on the play, to make the score 3-2 in favor of the Sound Tigers heading into the third period.
It looked as though the Sound Tigers would hold off the charging Wolf Pack until Bobby Sanguinetti blasted a point shot through a screen that Parenteau was able to redirect to tie the game at 3-3. Corey Potter also had an assist on Parenteau's 11th goal of the season.
In overtime, Sauer would end up with the game-winning goal coming at 2:06 of the extra session. Brian Fahey had the lone assist on Sauer's second of the season.
The Sound Tigers finished the game 1-for-5 on the power-play while the Wolf Pack went 2-for-5 on the man-advantage.
