Coyotes Acquire Joakim Lindstrom From Anaheim

GLENDALE, ARIZONA -- Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired forward Joakim Lindstrom from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Logan Stephenson. Lindstrom will join the Coyotes' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage.

Lindstrom, 24, has recorded 7-14-21 and 33 penalty minutes (PIM) in 21 games this season for the Iowa Chops of the AHL, tying him for the team-lead in points. In 2007-08, Lindstrom split the season between the NHL and AHL, collecting 3-4-7 in 25 games for the Columbus Blue Jackets and recording 25-35-60 in 49 games with Syracuse. He established both NHL and AHL career-highs in goals, assists and points last season.

A native of Skelleftea, Sweden, Lindstrom has appeared in 37 career NHL games, recording 4-4-8 and 18 PIM. He has also appeared in 197 career AHL games, recording 72-108-180 and 187 PIM with Syracuse and Iowa.

The 6-foot-1, 196-pound Lindstrom was originally drafted by Columbus in the 2nd round (41st overall) of the 2002 Entry Draft.

Stephenson, 22, has registered 1-1-2 and 40 PIM in 19 games with San Antonio of the AHL this season. A native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Stephenson has recorded 5-13-18 and 224 PIM in 166 games with the Rampage over the last three seasons. He was originally drafted by the Coyotes in the 2nd round (35th overall) of the 2004 Entry Draft.
