FOCUS ON USL CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY
The two clubs have just one loss combined in USL Championship play between them. With Athletic sitting in third place (2-0-2) and Miami sitting in fourth (2-1-1) in the Eastern Conference standings, this match will be one with immense implications. So long as Hartford grabs at least one point in Saturday's clash, they'll continue to hold a spot near the top of the conference's standings. Winners of the last four matches between the two teams, the Boys in Green will look to extend that streak and add key points to their standing.
PUTTING OUT THE ROCHA FLAME
Hartford Athletic's bread-and-butter this season has been tight defensive play in front of Antony Siaha, a stalwart in goal who's posted two clean sheets and surrendered just three goals in four USL Championship matches this season. However, Miami FC newcomer Arney Rocha comes into the tilt as the USL Championship Player of the Week, posting two goals and two assists across two league victories last week. Siaha is going to be tested by Miami FC's offensive arsenal that features three different players with two goals apiece this season.
MILESTONE MADNESS
With another match of USL Championship play under their belt and an undefeated record in league play, Athletic have the chance to achieve multiple milestones in Miami on Saturday afternoon. If Hartford captures all three points in the Sunshine State, it'll be General Manager and Head Coach Brendan Burke's 100th career win in USL Championship play (regular season and playoffs). So long as defender Jordan Scarlett appears in his fifth straight USL Championship match this season on Saturday, it'll be his 200th career appearance in the league. Lastly, two members of Athletic are approaching career milestones on the scoresheet heading into Saturday; Michee Ngalina sits one assist away from 30 in his USL Championship career while Siaha sits just nine saves away from 300 in his league career.
BEFORE THE HUDDLE
"The Miami FC match this weekend presents a massive opportunity for us to continue to set the tone for the rest of the USL season. With a good result there we will have withstood four of our first five league matches on the road," said Burke. "We put up a good fight and had chances to win with a heavily rotated squad in the other competition this week in Rhode Island to give ourselves this opportunity. We are up for this game collectively and rested accordingly to attack it."
