Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
Brandon, MB - A four goal third period helps the Medicine Hat Tigers prevail at the tail-end of a three-in-three weekend 7-4 over the Brandon Wheat Kings Sunday evening.
It didn't take long for the visiting Tigers to get on the scoresheet as Dru Krebs (Okotoks, AB) would re-direct the puck past Wheat Kings starter Ethan Eskit 32 seconds into the game to make it 1-0. Medicine Hat continued early pressure and had a chance on the power play but couldn't generate a second notch in the period. With 2:22 left in the 1st period Rylan Roersma would come in transition and snap a shot past Tigers goaltender Ethan McCallum (Brandon, MB) to draw things even at 1-1. Both clubs would fire nine shots in the period keeping the game a stalemate heading to the 2nd period.
Into the middle stanza the Tigers would take the lead as Hunter St. Martin (Edmonton, AB) would beat Ethan Eskit on a Tiger power play that took all of four seconds to create a chance and it's 2-1 Tigers at 3:29. Shane Smith (Cessford, AB) & Gavin McKenna (Whitehorse, YT) would mark assists. The Wheat Kings would tie it at 2-2 at the 6:30 mark as Brett Hyland in transition would beat McCallum high glove for his 24th of the season. Back the Tigers would come again at 8:05 as Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary AB) would have his 18th of the season banging in a lose puck to make it 3-2 at 8:05.
1:15 seconds later the Wheat Kings would respond again tying the game as Joby Baumuller would fire his 2nd of the season past McCallum tying the game at 3-3.
Medicine Hat would outshoot Brandon 18-8 and a two period total of 27-17 heading to the third.
The Tigers would pour on the offence in the third period as Hayden Harsanyi (Calgary, AB) would knock in his 8th of the season at 4:05 putting the Tigers ahead 4-3. 1:12 seconds later, Tomas Mrsic (Surrey, BC) would score a highlight reel goal for his second goal in as many games pushing the Tiger lead to 5-3.
Medicine Hat would finalize things against the Wheat Kings as Harsanyi would notch his second and 9th of the season on a net front battle to make it 6-3 Tigers with Krebs & Rhett Parsons (Cremona, AB) drawing assists. Oasiz Wiesblatt would finish off the scoring with 2:40 left on the clock to put Medicine Hat up 7-3. Helping propel the Tigers to their 28th win of the season.
