Spokane Chiefs News Release
Wenatchee, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs bounced back after Friday's home loss with a gritty 2-1 road win over the Wenatchee Wild Saturday night.
The Chiefs opened the scoring with a power play goal at 10:55 in the first period. Defenseman Brayden Crampton slide the puck over to Conner Roulette at the right circle, who fired a missile to the twine for his 28th goal of the season. Berkly Catton also earned an assist on the play.
The Wild were quick to answer, as Wenatchee's leading scorer Kenta Isogai notched his 22nd on the year only 14 seconds later to tie things up at one goal apiece.
About two minutes later, Roulette picked up the puck behind the Wild's net and got it over to Catton behind the red line. Catton wedged the puck through traffic out front to a waiting Chase Bertholet, who fired in what would be the game-winner at 13:17.
An outstanding 37-save performance by Dawson Cowan, inlcuding a perfect 28 of 28 through the second and third periods, led the Chiefs to a 2-1 win in Wenatchee.
Spokane went 1-for-4 on the power play and a perfect 7-for-7 on the penalty kill, but were outshot 38-31.
Up next, the Chiefs return home to take on the Prince George Cougars on Friday, January 26.
