Harrisburg Senators News Release
Today's Game... The Senators and Binghamton Mets open up a four-game series tonight in Binghamton. The two teams have gone in opposite directions since the last time they faced one another in Harrisburg. Since June 26th when the Senators swept a doubleheader over Binghamton to move nine games over. 500 they are 10-19 including losing their past four games. The Mets have done just the opposite as they are 20-6 including winners of their past seven games. The Senators have been at .500 just one other time this year, on June 2nd after 6-5 loss to these same Binghamton Mets which put the Sens record at 27-27. Beginning play tonight Binghamton is just 3.5 games out of first and 2.5 games behind Trenton. The Senators have fallen 12 games behind Akron and nine games behind Altoona.
Last Time Out... The Altoona Curve finished off their sweep of the Senators on Wednesday afternoon in Altoona with a 7-1 win. Ryan Drese made his third rehab start for the Senators, but he wasn't enough to put the Senators over the top. The offense was non-existent against Altoona starter Landon Jacobsen as the Senators managed just six hits. Prentice Redman had three of the Senators hits and the lone run came on a home run by Salomon Manriquez. Altoona scored two runs in the second inning, then another in the third for a 3-0 lead. They tacked on a pair of runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings for the win and a sweep of the series with the Sens.
Player of the Week... Josh Whitesell became the second Senator player of the week this year. During the past week Whitesell hit .526 (10 x 19) with four home runs and seven RBIs, five runs scored and walked five times. With the great week he pushed his season average to .275 and is now leading the Senators in home runs with 17.
