Happ And Romero Fly To Philly

OTTAWA - The list of Lynx pitchers getting the call to Philadelphia keeps getting longer. LHP J.A. Happ was recalled by the Phillies today and he will start this afternoon against New York. Also getting the call was RHP J.C. Romero. RHP Yoel Hernandez has been returned to the Lynx roster while RHP Clay Condrey has been designated for assignment by the Phillies.

Happ, 24, has a 1-2 record with a 4.02 ERA in 13 starts with the Lynx this season. He makes his Major League debut leading the Lynx in strikeouts. He is rated the 8th-best prospect in the Phillies Minor League system by Baseball America who also credit him with the best control and the best changeup among Phillies prospects. He was a Florida State League All-Star last season.

Romero, 31, did not appear in a game for the Lynx after being placed on the Lynx Temporarily Inactive list June 25th. Romero started the season with Boston, earning a 1-0 record with one save and a 3.15 ERA in 23 games with the Red Sox. He has a career record of 27-22 in parts of nine Major League seasons with Minnesota, Los Angeles and Boston.

Hernandez, 27, spent the first month of the season with the Lynx before being called up to Philadelphia. He was 1-0 with a 3.68 ERA and three saves in seven games with Ottawa. In 13 games with the Phillies, he has no record and a 5.02 ERA, with 13 strikeouts compared to only one walk.

Condrey, 31, was 1-0 with a 3.29 ERA in six games with the Lynx this season. He was 3-0 with a 7.36 ERA in 15 games with the Phillies this season.
