Hanson Brothers To Attend Old-Time Hockey Weekend March 15-17

CHARLOTTE, NC-The Charlotte Checkers today announced the details surrounding "Old-Time Hockey Weekend," which will include appearances by the Hanson Brothers and a special screening of the 1977 movie "Slap Shot." The event, presented by Husqvarna, will take place from March 15-17.
David Hanson, Jeff Carlson and Steve Carlson, who played the characters in the sports movie classic, will attend the game on Friday, March 15 (7 p.m. vs. Texas) and take part in a special on-ice activity and autograph session.
The team will wear specialty retro jerseys, based on those the Checkers wore in the early 1970s, on Friday and Sunday (3 p.m. vs. Texas). The jerseys will be up for auction following Friday's game, with proceeds benefiting the Charlotte Checkers Charitable Foundation.
On Saturday, March 16, a special screening of "Slap Shot" will take place at the new Studio Movie Grill Uptown (SMG EPICENTRE), featuring the Hanson Brothers, who will provide live commentary and take part in a question and answer session. A limited amount of tickets will be available for the screening at just $20 for season ticket holders and $25 for the general public. Game/movie combo packages are also available, starting at $40, and special VIP experience packages will be announced shortly at www.gocheckers.com.
Other charitable beneficiaries of the weekend will include A Child's Place and Hayden's Hope, a local extension of the Children's Organ Transplant Association.
SMG EPICENTRE is a 30,000-square-foot, in-theatre dining venue set to open Tuesday, Feb. 26 in the EpiCentre in Uptown Charlotte. It will offer first-run movies with 100% reserved seating and distinct kitchen-to-chair food delivery. For more information, visit www.studiomoviegrill.com.
The Checkers' annual Race Night is Friday (7 p.m.) at Time Warner Cable Arena. This year's headliner is NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Regan Smith, who will be joined by fellow driver Joey Logano, Joey Coulter and others.
