Jeff Woywitka Loaned to Rivermen

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced the Blues have club has assigned defenseman Jeff Woywitka to the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Peoria Rivermen today.

Woywitka, 29, spent last season between the New York Rangers and their AHL affiliate, Connecticut Whale. The 6'3, 221-pound defenseman posted six points (one goal, five assists) in 27 games with the Rangers while he logged three assists in six games with the Whale. The Vermilion, Alberta native was signed as a free agent by the Blues on July 2, 2012.

Now in his 10th professional season, Woywitka played 153 games with the Rivermen from 2005-09. He registered four goals and 59 assists in parts of four seasons. Overall he has appeared in 599 games since turning pro in 2003. Originally selected by Philadelphia in the first round (#27 overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Woywitka has appeared in 599 professional regular season games.
