
Coyotes Recall Johnson & Rundblad From Portland

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled goaltender Chad Johnson (on emergency recall) and defenseman David Rundblad from the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate (AHL).
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Johnson has appeared in 24 games with the Pirates this season posting a 14-8-0 record with a 2.80 goals against average (GAA) and .912 save percentage (SV %).
In 2011-12, the 26-year-old native of Calgary, Alberta notched a 22-18-6 record with a 2.49 GAA and .919 SV% in 49 games with the Connecticut Whale (AHL). Johnson was originally drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round (125th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Rundblad has played one game for the Coyotes this season. He has also appeared in 32 games with Portland in 2012-13, recording 6-17-23 and 10 PIM. Rundblad leads all Pirates defensemen in points and ranks tied for fourth on the team in scoring. He also ranks 10th in scoring among all AHL defensemen. Rundblad was selected to represent the Pirates at the AHL All-Star Game this season.
The 22-year-old native of Lycksele, Sweden appeared in six games with the Coyotes in 2011-12, registering three assists (0-3-3). Rundblad was originally drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the first round (17th overall) in the 2009 Entry Draft.
