Kalamazoo Wings News Release
Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud members of the United Hockey League, announce that forward Jonathan Tremblay has been reassigned to the K-Wings from the Cleveland Barons of the American Hockey League.
Tremblay, 21, joins the K-Wings after spending time this season with the both the Cleveland Barons (AHL) and the Toledo Storm (ECHL).
The native of North Bay, Ontario is a physical power-forward that was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the 7th Round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft (201st overall pick).
"The San Jose Sharks believe Tremblay has NHL talent and wants him to hone his skills in Kalamazoo," said Vice President/General Manager Paul L. Pickard. "It's a credit to our coach (Mark Reeds) and to our organization (K-Wings) that the Sharks have the confidence in us to develop their young prospects."
Tremblay, whose nickname is the Hammer, spent his rookie season in the ECHL with the Johnstown Chiefs, where he amassed 136 minutes in penalties in 46 games.
While last year was Tremblay's first-year as a pro, he is still under 60 professional games played, so he is still considered a rookie under the United Hockey League rules.
Before turning pro, Tremblay played three seasons of Junior "A" hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In his time in the QMJHL, Tremblay recorded 704 minutes in penalties in 167 games and was a member of the 2001-02 league champions, the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.
Tremblay and the K-Wings will start a three-game road swing and a four-game week this Wednesday, November 23rd against the Flint Generals.
The K-Wings will return home this Sunday, November 27th at 4:00 p.m., when they host the Flint Generals on Harry Potter Night presented by WKFR and Celebration Cinema.
Tickets for this Sunday's game, as well as all K-Wings' home games are available by calling the Wings Stadium Ticket Office at (269) 345-5101, or stopping by during regular business hours of 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday or on Saturday's from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Fans can also order "E-Tickets" online through www.ticketmaster.com.
