Holiday food drive to kick off busy weekend

Rockford, Ill.- This Wednesday, Nov. 23, the Rockford IceHogs will host their traditional Thanksgiving Eve game to kick off the holiday season. The IceHogs will host the Missouri River Otters at 7:05 p.m. and the club will once again hold their Annual Food Drive. The game kicks off a busy weekend for Rockford that includes four games, including three at the Rockford MetroCentre.

Every fan that purchases a ticket for Wednesday's game and brings a nonperishable food item to donate to the Salvation Army will receive a free $9 voucher to the Hogs Sunday, Nov. 27 contest against the Quad City Mallards.

Wednesday is also another FlyAway Wednesday with the Chicago Rockford International Airport, Allegiant Air and WXRX-FM 104.9. Every fan that enters the arena will be entered to win a pair of airline tickets from Allegiant Air.

On Friday the IceHogs will mix it up with the Kalamazoo Wings at 7:05 p.m. The first 2,000 fans will receive a T-shirt courtesy of Blackhawk Communications, Smith Electrical Contracting, Avon, Fox39, 95.3 FM and Lena Sign Shop. The Hogs and Wings have been two of the top teams in the UHL through the first five weeks of the regular season.

After a showdown in Muskegon on Saturday night, the Hogs return home to take on the Quad City Mallards at 1:05 p.m. The first 500 kids 12-and-under will receive a commemorative IceHogs puck from Insurance King. Sunday is also another Family Four Pack Day. That's four tickets, four hot dogs and four soft drinks for only $48.

Following Sunday's game, the Hogs will host this season's first Post-Game Party at The 10th Inning Bar and Grill. The Party will get underway approximately one hour after the conclusion of the Hogs game and will feature IceHogs players and coaches.

MIZZI AND LUTZ LOANED BACK TO THE ADMIRALS

IceHogs pair head back up to the AHL

Rockford, Ill.- IceHogs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Steve Martinson announced Tuesday that forward Preston Mizzi and defenseman Nathan Lutz were loaned back to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Both skaters will be making their third go-round in the AHL. Mizzi was sent back to Rockford after Milwaukee's game on Saturday night against the Chicago Wolves. Lutz has played in the last seven IceHogs games since being returned to the Hogs on Monday, Nov. 6.

While in Milwaukee, Mizzi has a goal and six penalty minutes in four games. Lutz has appeared in five games for the Admirals and also played in one game earlier this season with the Manitoba Moose. Milwaukee had their seven-game winning streak snapped on Saturday against Chicago and sit in fourth place in the AHL's West Division with a record of 7-4-0-1.

Mizzi and Lutz are two of five Hogs skaters to get loaned to the AHL this season. Goaltender Michel Robinson, winger Chaz Johnson and defenseman Evgueni Nourislamov have also received call-ups this season. The five skaters have received a total of 12 promotions to the next level.
