Hamilton Hosts Rochester And Toronto And Travels To Cleveland This Week

The Hamilton Bulldogs (American Hockey League affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens) will hit the ice for three competitions this week. Hamilton will host one of their North Division adversaries, the Rochester Americans (AHL affiliate of the Florida Panthers) on Friday, February 27th at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, February 28th the 'Dogs will face off against their QEW rivals the Toronto Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs) at 7:00 p.m. at Copps Coliseum. The Bulldogs will then head to Cleveland for Sunday's tilt against the Lake Erie Monsters (AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche) at 5:00 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena.

This week the Bulldogs went 2-1-0-0, bringing their record to 35-21-2-0. The Bulldogs kicked off their week on Friday, February 20th with a 4-3 victory over their archrivals the Toronto Marlies at Ricoh Coliseum. The 'Dogs continued their winning streak on Saturday, February 21st when they defeated the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins 4-1 at Copps Coliseum. Finishing the weekend, Hamilton played host to the Syracuse Crunch on Sunday, February 22nd and came up short in a 3-1 loss.

HAMILTON BULLDOGS CASINO NIGHT

The Hamilton Bulldogs Present Casino Night, Tuesday, February 24th, in support of the Bulldogs Foundation. The evening will consist of casino games alongside your favourite Bulldogs players. Tickets are $35.00 and can be purchased at the Bulldogs office during regular business hours.

The event will take place at the Hamilton Convention Centre beginning at 7:30pm. There will also be a Texas Hold'em poker tournament with limited seating available (additional $35.00 entrance fee). The grand prize for the poker tournament is a trip for 2 to Las Vegas (includes flight and hotel for 2 people, 4 nights).

Please come out and help support the Bulldogs Foundation. There will be a silent auction, cash bar and other great games and prizes throughout the night.

This is an ADULTS ONLY event. You must be at least 19 years of age to attend.

There are currently over 40 former Bulldogs in the NHL at this time. Over 60 percent of the players on Hamilton's all-time roster have played in a minimum of one NHL game. Three former Bulldogs head or assistant coaches (Doug Jarvis, Claude Julien, and Geoff Ward) are currently in a coaching capacity in the NHL. Here are a few highlights and accomplishments of ex-'Dogs from this past week:

- Montreal LW Andrei Kostitsyn picked up five points last week earning a goal and an assist in a 3-4 shootout loss to Washington (Feb. 18), and a goal and two assists in a 5-4 defeat to Pittsburgh (Feb. 19)

- Montreal C Tomas Plekanec earned five points this past week with a goal in the 3-4 shootout loss to Washington (Feb. 18), two goals and an assist in a 5-4 loss to Pittsburgh (Feb. 19), and a goal in a 5-3 victory over Ottawa (Feb 21)

- Edmonton C Shawn Horcoff added three points last week with a marker in a 4-2 defeat to Dallas (Feb. 19), and two assists in a 3-2 shootout loss to Calgary (Feb. 21)

- Los Angeles C Jarrett Stoll picked up three points this past week with a goal and two assists in a 4-3 win over Anaheim (Feb. 18)

BULLDOUGS FOUNDATION: Ryan White was named as the Community Player of the Month for January. Throughout January, Ryan dedicated his time in support of various Bulldogs Foundation sponsored events. Despite his commitment to training and his hard work on the ice, Ryan managed to find time in his schedule to give back to the community by visiting schools in an effort to encourage and inspire youth throughout Hamilton.
