Moose Drop All Three In Week 20

On the heels of a franchise record 14 road games with at least a point, the Manitoba Moose dropped three consecutive road games in Week 20 to the Grand Rapids Griffins (5-1L), Milwaukee Admirals (2-1L) and Chicago Wolves (2-1L). Failing to earn a single point, the Moose are now only two points ahead of the Griffins for overall top spot in the league. In Saturday night's loss, Jason Krog recorded his 60th point of the season, an assist, while Jason Jaffray scored his 100th career goal in the AHL.

Friday, February 20, 2008: Manitoba 1, Grand Rapids 5

The two top seeds in the North Division faced off in front of a sold-out crowd at the Van Andel Arena on Friday night and the Grand Rapids Griffins defeated the Manitoba Moose 5-1. This is the first time the Moose have lost in regulation on the road since December 28th at Toronto. Dusty Collins scored Manitoba's lone goal while Cory Schneider and Curtis Sanford both saw ice time in the loss. The Griffins now climbed to within four points of the Moose for top spot in the division with the win.

Saturday, February 21, 2008: Manitoba 1, Milwaukee 2

For the second night in a row the Moose were only able to score one goal, resulting in a 2-1 loss to the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center. Jason Krog recorded his 60th point of the season, assisting Jason Jaffray's first period goal, while goaltender Cory Schneider stopped 19 shots for his fifth loss of the season.

Sunday, February 22, 2008: Manitoba 1, Chicago 2

In their third game in as many days, the Moose were defeated by the Chicago Wolves 2-1 at the Allstate Arena on Sunday. This loss marked the third straight for the Moose, their second three-game losing streak of the season, who currently hold a 20-7-0-3 record on the road. Defenseman Dylan Yeo scored for Manitoba while Curtis Sanford stopped 27 of 29 shots for his first regulation loss with the Moose.

KROG RECORDS HIS 60TH: Jason Krog recorded his 60th point of the season on Saturday night with an assist against the Milwaukee Admirals. The 2008 Calder Cup MVP leads all Moose skaters with 61 points (19g & 42a), 21 points ahead of the second place Michel Ouellet. Krog currently has 22 points in his last 18 games. Krog also has 15 multi-point games this season and four games where he has scored three points or more. He is currently tied for fourth in AHL scoring. Last season, he finished with 112 points (39g & 73a) as league MVP with the Chicago Wolves.

HAPPY 100TH JAFFRAY: In Saturday night's 2-1 loss at the hands of the Admirals, Jason Jaffray scored his 100th AHL career goal. So far this season, the Olds, Alberta native has appeared in 38 Moose games where he has earned 35 points (18g & 17a). He is ranked third in Moose scoring so far this season. Jaffray has played four seasons with the Moose where he has accumulated 90 goals, the other 10 coming from his time with the Cleveland Barons.

Upcoming Opponents

The Manitoba Moose complete their 10-game road trip on Tuesday night when they close-out their four-game season series with the Milwaukee Admirals (1-2-0-0). The Moose are then back in white on Friday, Feb. 27th and Saturday, Feb. 28th for a doubleheader against the Peoria Rivermen.

Player of the Week Nominee

Jason Krog

For the sixth time this season and second week in a row, Jason Krog has been nominated for AHL Player of the Week. Krog appeared in all three games for the Moose this week and collected two assists. As a result, Krog is now tied for fourth in scoring in the entire league with 61 points. His 42 assists rank him second overall in the league. After being shutout in Friday's 5-1 loss to Grand Rapids, Krog responded with an assists in Saturday and Sunday's 2-1 defeats to Milwaukee and Chicago. Krog also finished the week with six shots and was +1. Krog now has 22 points in his last 18 games.
