The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Toronto Marlies by a score of 6-3 tonight from Copps Coliseum in Hamilton.
Playing in his first game since last year's playoffs, Matt Frattin opened the scoring on the powerplay at the 8:53 mark of the first period. Hamilton would reply just over three minutes later, as Morgan Ellis recorded his first goal of the season. The Bulldogs would add two late goals from Alexander Avtsin and Brendan Gallagher to take a 3-1 lead heading into the middle frame. Hamilton outshot Toronto 14-9 in the opening period. Matt Frattin would notch his second goal of the night just past the 12-minute mark of the second period, cutting the Bulldogs lead to one. Toronto outshot Hamilton 12-4 in the middle frame. Jerry D'Amigo tied the game at three early in the third period, before Joonas Nattinen, Aaron Palushaj and Brandon Gallagher recorded consecutive goals for Hamilton to secure a 6-3 victory.
The AHL's battle of Ontario resumes tomorrow afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum with puck drop set for 3 p.m. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team's ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825). The game can also be seen live on Rogers Sportsnet One.
